Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

We shouldn’t put our hopes in the Apple deal

When I say this I’m trying to be realistic, and everything points to me that we will never become an exclusive supplier to Apple. Judging by what was said by the Apple official they don’t see Intel as a lone supplier of chips and modems in the long run. Intel has to be careful not to put all of our eggs in the Apple box, cause they will use any opportunity to go where the offers are better. Don’t even want to mention what will happen if they work things out with Qualcomm,

I have said all along intel never mad money in mobile on wishful x86 ApS professor nor the modems.

Spent billions catching up, more billions buying Infineon mobile and still not making money.

Apple is notorious for squeezing their vendors and how can Intel compete against MediaTek and Qualcomm running on TSMC silicon?

Surprised Bean counters BS allows this to continue as well as the board.

More layoffs needed to cover this one!

Wake up. Apple hates relying on us for processors or modems. The second they can, they will drop us. They see us as a dead man walking. Too dumb to build a low power chip for mobile (when they came asking us directly), too slow to keep up with NM processes, and too unimaginative to see where tech is heading. We just react. We kill projects rather than ship and learn. Our path is set - unless we receive a major cultural jolt from a new CEO. Otherwise, this dinosaur knows it's fate.

OP you don't realize Apple is the only hope for icdg. Currently Apple is asking everyone apart from Qualcomm of they have a ready 5G modem as Intel is c-ap.
