Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Please make this work!

I don’t work for sears but my family is a HUGE supporter. I have fond memories growing up and going to sears on the weekend with my Dad. I want the same for my children. My 2 year old daughter already loves the tractor displays. No more full line sears where I live but am thankful for a Hometown store.

A winning culture doesn’t just get dictated top down. It starts bottom up too. The leaders of the 70s, 80s and early 90s never really got that and started a long decline. It really is never too late. Sears still has some awesome strengths. Don’t go to work defeated. Know you have some hardcore customers that are hoping everyday that you’re winning.

I used to and still tell my wife that I dream of an all-Craftsman garage because that’s how I grew up. Forget Eddie’s antics and go to work to win for your customers! Today is a new day and a new chance. If Eddie sees that he gets a bigger ROI by growing Sears, then that’s what he’ll ultimately do.

@imat by some media accounts, lampert's last company hired ex Marines $3m to kill him. This stuff is just grousing in comparison. That's just the kind of karma he earns in his wake.

Enough with the vitriol! You guys are so vitriolic! Vitriol, vitriol, vitriol all the time. Haven't you anything good to say instead of being vitriolic?

It's like someone learned the word vitriol and are so proud of themselves they can't stop using it

THE sheer vitriol and hate by people on this board for the company—-which many of these individuals gladly still take a paycheck from —-is disappointing. If you are so miserable and unhappy, quit. You are under no obligation to stay, and quite frankly they don’t need people with a bad attitude. There are plenty of other retail jobs in the marketplace where I’m sure you would be happier.

@ vuk

If you want that all Craftsman garage you better start shopping at Lowes then. Lowes is where the future of Craftsman is and perhaps beyond as SBD expands their Craftsman offering. SEARS is not the future of Craftsman......

@wgo OK. I saw you getting hammered and wondered why. I guess this board is no place for sentiment.

@bcb I understand. I’m still not the other “real life” guy and was just making the point at the same time (based on some othe bashing I’ve received here) that I’m not old and it has nothing to do with nostalgia. And to all those saying just buy it all and buy the tractors; I do what I can with the capital I have: I’m not Eddie. Also my yard isn’t quite big enough for a tractor!

@vuk Vitriol eh? Fairly uncommon word. You related to @XaEoORn "Is this real life?" two posts up? Just asking.

Should have said two threads up, my mistake. They don't mention their age there or Amazon. Abt guy does.

fbt - nope. That’s not me. Big difference. The other “vitriol” poster doesn’t believe in Sears. I do. Despite who’s at the top, you guys can win. Just stop beating up your customers! And I’m not in my 60s either. I’m in my 30s and much prefer shopping Sears (now only a Hometown in my area) to shopping on amazon. There are those of us that believe in you and aren’t giving up.

I am nostalgic about the store too. But I just bought a washer, dryer, microwave and oven range at Abt Electronics, replacing all the stuff I bought in 2001 or earlier from Sears. I wouldn't have confidence that Sears could run a one-car funeral. I drive 20-miles to Abt because they are the exact opposite of Sears....judging from all the online Sears complaints. Unless Sears did a 180-degree turn in everything from A to Z, I would never make a big ticket purchase there and l find better deals and selection and quality elsewhere for other lines of merchandise as well. Fact is, as a 60-year-old man, I do most of my non-grocery, purchasing on Ebay and Amazon nowadays, I even bought furniture via Amazon and nobody could touch the selection, price or quality for what I was looking for (rattan/wicker tables). I feel guilty about letting the brick/mortar stores lose business and erode the tax base, but they are lacking in selection and prices are often 30% more.

My garage is all craftsman. Lawnmower, blower, trimmer, edger, pressure washer, tool cabinets, tools, power tools. Heck even the track system all around. My point was I plan to continue to grow it and build it out as an all craftsman garage.

The vitriol here is pretty unbelievable though. The nastiness some of you have for your customers that are cheering you on is disappointing. I can only hope that some of you don’t actually work for Sears.

Well, maybe instead of dreaming about a Craftsman garage you should have been a customer and bought.

Same with the Tractor.

How about the guy that bought the company make it work by updating the registers and fix up the stores.

Too bad none of that nostalgia translated to a cash flow positive holiday season, much less the rest of the year.

Yes, because we all know real customers are so passionate about Sears that they feel compelled to post love notes on obscure anonymous internet boards....

It’s no wonder sears is in the straits they are. One hell of a way to treat customers posting their support on here. You guys just don’t understand Sears place in American culture and the unique asset that is.

If you are that emotional about a store, you should really reevaluate what’s important in life.
