I was laid off after 25 years of faithful service , but to be honest it was probably the best thing to happen to me.
During the last 12 years I lived with the stress of the yearly layoffs ever single year.
Seeing the dept where I work have the staff cut from 9 people down to 5 people.
This increased the stress for everyone as our work load was doubled due to the reduced staff.
It was even worse when 1 person went on vacation meaning it was only 4 people trying to carry the load.
Actually having to eat at our desks because nobody could take a proper lunch and leave the area.
Sometimes the stress was so bad people would bicker among themselves, people who were normally very friendly to each other.
Of course our Mgr would try his best to boost morale by saying, " Be grateful least you survived this round of layoffs.
WTF
This post went through to me as I encounterd the same thing and had the same feelings. Thanks for the post @XaUI5x3-law .
