Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

If you have any shred of talent or self respect get out while there are still options

It doesn’t matter how many hands are working or how many hours you put in. If you’re going in the wrong direction with the wrong product wrong processes too many layers too top heavy etc. just prolonging the inevitable demise. Hollow promises of movies tv shows and whatever are only temporary salves to fool whatever investors are still on the fence or have abandoned you completely. In the end Ynot is fleecing the company at the expense of everyone like all the other CEOs. If he really meant it he would not take a salary until the company turns around. Nope instead it’s death by a thousand cuts. Someone said Christmas time off is next. Of course it is. The excuse? Studios are open all the way until Christmas. What a crock. Next will be your 401k. There is no damn plan. Any long term plan is unsustainable unless you fix today and the short term. You know what your execs are good at? Over thinking and second guessing. Never ever at decision making. None of them have crystal balls. They are grasping at straws. If you have any shred of talent or self respect get out while there are still options.

Couldn't have said it better myself. The original poster is @XWCtHwB-3biw

truth. if you’re below management level and you’re not actively looking elsewhere you’re the real chump.

Only people left are the exorbitantly paid execs who are padding their retirement accounts before they leave, long timers too scared to retire, and mediocre leftovers trying desperately to keep their heads down and not be noticed.

Anyone with any kind of talent or options has long left. Why live under this kind of uncertainty? They keep telling you no layoffs and then quietly let people go. Slowly chip away at any of the things that helped create a great culture. The leftovers minimize all of these things as “just business” because they’re all in denial. You keep taking things away and over time people all get used to it. And then you make them feel that they should be grateful for getting anything at all. If this sounds like you then just be at peace with it.

Remember that all those execs that are cheering you on or pretending they care are profiting greatly.

"If you still work at mehtell you’ve already flushed your self respect down the toilet along with your self worth. "

Sour Grapes dude. Move on hater.

And my self respect and I will continue to stash our millions at this terrible company.

Leave or at least start looking for another job. Do it while you have a 9-5 job. You have to look out for yourself. Because Mattel sure as hell won’t look out for you. You owe it to yourself and your family.

The place is so done not even Barbie on her best day will save it.

It will be a miracle if it is at least a third of what it was in 5 years. There is such a thing as a hole too deep to dig out of.

If you still work at mehtell you’ve already flushed your self respect down the toilet along with your self worth. the only thing worse than being in ES is EA.

So much wringing of hands. It’s a great paycheck. Stay and Cross the bridge when you get to it’, if you get to it. The prognosticators don’t have a clue.

Y’all are such whiners. If you even for one moment stopped to think about how many people would feel lucky to have your job. Just go find something else and stop living in the past. Things change everywhere. Every single job. Get over it.

Good advice. How sad, as Mattel was once an amazing place to work, filled with incredible talent, and producing the most in-demand toys. It is not any longer and I fear that those that stay til the end will not be viewed as loyal employees who wanted to stay and save the company, but as not smart enough to leave earlier when it was obvious that there is no way to save it. Or even worse, not having enought talent to find other options. Mattel may still be a strong name to have on a resume, but that may not always be the case. Good luck, all.
