Thread regarding Riverbed Technology Inc. layoffs

Jackpot! Eureka! Yahtzee’s!

Good news Riverbuddies about the company’s stock price. I have insider news from TB and a little birdie from Finance that our stocks that were purchased and/or valued at $0.09 have moved by 33%! The new price is now $0.0342.

Guess I’ll have to downgrade my dream car from a Tesla X to a Chevy Bolt.

Definitely not half a brain issue but rather “believing” in Jerry and leadership.

I don’t think there’s a lack of feature or ideas for the products, I think the problem is with resources and products managers. Riverbed needs to think about leap frogging competition with new ideas rather than play catch up but this requires the right product folks with great vision. A feature probably won’t dig certain products out of the hole it’s in, it’ll literally take a a huge leap forward.

We need to innovate and not replicate or else riverbed will fall prey to shrinking market share and be left wondering why.

I’m not saying entirely what Jerry said is correct. But I’m saying if you are losing deals due to a feature that the competition has, then by all means try to educate the customer that the feature might not be ideal or even necessary.

But consider adding the feature so the customer can make their own mind up, even if you don’t think it’s the right thing. Then the competition doesn’t have one over on you.

Some customers are never going to budge their position on a feature being necessary for a deployment.

Alternately you can go on losing deals, yet you can sit proudly in the knowledge that at least you were right.

Perhaps I only have half a brain??

Re re-conforming. The buy back stock cavalry is now $0.0342. I purchased at $0.09 when I started 2 years ago and when I left I was offered the repurchase price of $0.0342. I lost money but gained friends.

No one with half a brain fell for JK’s “do you want to be rich or right” spiel, I certainly did not, especially coming from an accountant. That whole logic smells like something straight out of Trump’s book, the art of the deal, to be honest. We all know the answer, you have to be right to be rich because of what you do is wrong, why should that make you rich? #CONMAN

For those saying need more technical in Csuite. Even Jerry said ~2 years ago about SteelConnect do you wanna be right or do you wanna be rich.

This was a point about FEC feature for SD-WAN, silverpeam have it. Riverbed were oh so clever saying it isn’t necessary with today’s wans etc - I’m not sales but I’m willing to bet silver peak use this in every opportunity when we are head to head with them in FUD.

I don’t even know if this is yet even on our roadmap.

Who can 100% confirm they no longer repurchase at 0.9c and they now repurchase around 0.3c? Is that someone from the recent RIF or someone who chose to move on or knowledge of finance dept?

Did they advise you this at your exit ishortly after etc?

I guess they will still pay the 10% return on the class A. Good ROI

Got lucky, never bought into this offer when it was first offered because I wasn’t sure about leadership. Seems like I was right and saved me some money betting against the house.

Does anyone know where or who gets that 6 cents?

It's true, the stock you purchased at $.09 is now worth $.0342, so much for believing and investing in a company! Should have gone to Vegas instead!

Sorry to say but GMs, VPs, Sr. dirs (non-eng) are very non technical. They are creating and picking up useless Action items that are wasting everyone time.

We do have technical C suites in the form of GM’s. In terms of a technical CEO (like most successful startups) probably will never happen based on the hyper-focus on EBIDTA and communication to TB.

It would be great to have a young, technical CEO but leave them to those disruptive startups that require that type of emphasis at the stages of business that they’re in.

Don’t worry, we are still profitable and good times are just around the corner. I believe in the new leadership. We need more technical people in the Csuite though - who have a good idea about whether the new features will sell or not ... around scon 2.12+, new shead appliances etc

Lol, glad we were laid off with the while team worldwide. I cashed our my shares at purchased price and since dollar strengthened, I made a small profit. People are just delusional of they think they are going to be multi millionaires with Riverbed shares lol, keep dreaming! Lol

Where current conditions are disinterested customers and lackluster product offerings.

The adjustment in the share price was necessary to accurately reflect current conditions. This company remains one of our largest investments ever and we remain committed to achieving a successful outcome for our investors. It all comes down to a relentless focus on EBIDTA. By transitioning from a hardware-centric to a software/subscription focus, and by carefully managing expenses, we are confident that we are now on the right path to success.

I just did it. Tomorrow is my last day. I would recommend trying new opportunities because the job market is pretty strong and I got a 20% pay raise switching to the new job. I just cannot stay in a company that has no future and pays little. Best of lucks for those who decide to stay, for whatever reason. will come back and check on my fellow RVBDbuddies in a few months.

The liquidity event we are all waiting for will came in the form of severance packages.

The last round of layoffs gave the biggest severance packages IT companies typically provide. For those who just got rif’d you are the lucky ones.

If the company were ever to sell or “whatever” the payout would be insignificant compared to past severance packages. If you are not at the director or VP level you will be fooling yourself if you are waiting for a big pay day.

the longer you stay your likelihood of a cashing in will decrease. If the company gets acquired the probability of being let go by the parent company increases. Keep this in mind...integrations are like a slow death by strangulation.

No man wants to hear “shrinking packages” then we know something is seriously bad :)

Well, I was going to get new shoes but now I have to settle for shoe laces.

if you have class A stock, you should jump now, in 6 months, your REAL(if you know what i am saying) money is going to depreciate. PM will be let go in a few months. He's got only one chance to re-imagine and he has used it.

someone said earlier that $5.5B is break even. at that point class B is worth $0 anyway. Heard rumors from HQ that Microsoft might be preparing an offer for sdwan for Azure stack.

That is a 66% movement Mr. Monopoly, DUDE!!!! On the positive side, they must be printing more stock to hire more people and give them more stock. I guess the lucky ones cashed out at 0.09c.

Your expectations are way too high riverbuddy. You should be looking at a 1999 Chevy PT Cruiser.

While you are at it, why not install a mobile Xirrus AP onto your new PT Cruiser and drive around as a mobile hotspot.
