For the past two months I have looked for employment outside the company. I have applied for lots of jobs in my field of computer science. Anyway, I have had three interviews. Two phone and one in person. In all interviews when they go over my qualifications they seem to be impressed, but when they see Windstream they give a disappointed look. My qualifications speak for itself, and I am applying for positions that are equal to what I do now. It is like Windstream is a step down. I was told by one to start in tech help despite the fact that I do the same functions that they are looking for. Has anybody has the same issues when job hunting? Now I feel like just staying until they throw me out. It seems to be a lost cause.

"oh yah and real health benefits too"
Health benefits can be a hit or miss on companies, depending what industry you stay with. Many larger companies are doing the same as WIN in passing more costs to employees. But having some health insurance in most instances is better than having none, even though the costs are skyrocketing.
This op posted false info. I suspect they are. plant from management or hr trying to discourage people from looking elsewhere. Nice try. Keep looking folks, win is notorious for underpaying, when you move to another company expect either a bump in pay or a really job where you aren’t working ten jobs for a fraction of what you are worth, oh yah and real health benefits too. Good luck and happy hunting!
Depends on were you are today? If you have a CS degree are you working to write code or are you on the operations side supporting the network?
Make a presentation. When I left WIN I created a full blown network mockup environment complete with ospf, bgp in my home lab and created a vpn for my interviewers to connect and look through it and ask questions. Had the offer before I even got home.
I feel the same way. People overlook capabiliteis and discount your capabilities if you work for Win.
Yes I have been trying to get out this place for about a year now. I’m convinced that WS in my resume has damaged my marketability. It’s impossible to prove however. Stick with it you’ll get out eventually if it doesn’t fold on its own soon.
Posting your resume to boards just gets you junk and spam. You have to send to them.
Have you posted your resume to the fowwowing boards ?
