Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Medicare for all

Why is no one in the organization talking about current policial movements that aim to eliminate UNH alltogether. Am I the only one concerned we may all ultimately be laid off?

That’s my understanding as well. It’s not just Medicare under debate but single payer, meaning the government would run all healthcare. That’s why there are provisions in the bill to assist displaced workers who currently work in the insurance industry.

I don’t know the likelihood of it being passed, but it warrants watching.

Wouldn't M&R be eliminated in the below scenario? No more contracts to administer......it would all be US govt workers!

have you heard of the business line M&R? Medicare and retirement? Our business would grow because we would win more contracts to adminster the insurance.

This wouldn’t eliminate private insurance and UHC has a thriving Medicare Advantage program. Medicare for All would probably mean more customers.
