Thread regarding Barnes & Noble layoffs

No layoffs for a year?

Someone said today that there would be no layoffs this year and we're safe for one more year.

Is this true? Can anybody confirm?

"Management has been pretty honest with me all along, and they also said we're

all safe this year.Looks like we'll get another Christmas season."

There you go. You got your daily reassurance that everything is going to be A-OK. Nobody is going to be laid off because BN is in such great shape. You got that reassurance from an anonymous post from an anonymous source, Sure, what more verification do you need? Now you can go back to your job at your profitable store that's making or exceeding all of your metrics. For the rest of you, update your resume. You're intelligent enough to see that the financial future of this company is at best, questionable. If you are unhappy at BN, update your resume and start looking for a new job. If you still enjoy working at BN and have no plans of finding new employment then stop asking if your job is safe. There is no guarantee that the company is going to stay open or go bankrupt. But if you are staying please don't be so naive as to believe a low-level manager who doesn't have access to the corporate financials. They are telling you what you want to hear.

Looks like we'll get another Christmas season.

Amazing to me, as i expected the end three years back.

To the OP: No, nobody can confirm this, because a year is a long time, and there are still plenty of things that can go wrong.

Given management's mendacity on the subject previously, I wouldn't trust much of anything that comes out of New York.

Maybe no layoffs because they're going bankrupt.

Be worried.

In November ( all those let go, 3 months later) Bargain, Digital, Newsstand & Receiving were told their jobs were safe !
