Thread regarding Riverbed Technology Inc. layoffs

Layoffs at Riverbed have started

The entire Enterprise ISR Team (Remote and SF Office) were let go today as of 9:30am. Thier last day will be this Friday, 22nd.

Judging by this, we are looking at really bad several weeks until all the layoffs are done. I'll be honest, I didn't expect to see them cut entire teams. This just made me much more nervous than I was...

Hate it when people call SH legacy ... all of Opnet’s stuff should be called super legacy then. At least the legacy products pull $$$ and built correctly

To say that the opnet purchase is still the cause for misery is just bs. Sure it was expensive but you still have to deal with the legacy RVBD products not bringing in the gold as they used too and that it was 7 years ago. SFusion is done. No point in throwing money out there in maintaining it. Aternity is making money. Creating a company out of APM and SConn is the future while the SH revenues last. Sure there are boneheaded decisions being made in figuring out who to retain and who to fire. But on the product side, letting go of the deadweights was obviously needed.

Also, f you Jerry.

Perhaps Riverbed should buy Aviato - we sell millions (Of promises) and I can wear my Sherlock Homes outfit to appease the Leaders

Opnet is a parasitic org - not sure how many years Riverbed said “monitoring is the future” but we’ll keep on telling ourselves this until it comes true - a lame and childish strategy.

Bottom line is, out of touch tech leaders are the reasons for some failures here, it’s not all in sales people or non-tech leaders.

I have to say my morale is dropping like crazy with RVBD. Feel really bad for all the people that let go, and while I am happy to still have a job, I am dealing with not only a 50% drop in pay until I hit 50% quota...but also learned at least 50% drop in accounts. I get why they did that, they want to go deeper into accounts...but this is a tall ask for a pay cut....Linearity also seems to be out of reach. We are not even sure which accounts we have now. Other reps walking into huge deals where they haven't done anything...Upper management is ON TOP of us for exact numbers for every single day even in Q4 of this year...IDK Riverbed don't you think somethings gotta give here?

Seemed like everything went South after the acquisition of Opnet. Well, I think it's more to do with cloud deployment. Companies invest more in cloud than own data center equipment. For those who got laid off last Friday, hope you can find new opportunities quickly.

Let’s not forget the relics we call leaders

Wow, I sort of agree with the American here. The transformation logic of what’s been done makes sense but, geez, are there redundancy and dead weight still around that others have to carry. Seems like these low performers have friends on high, which Should put light in the leaders. Seriously, if PM wants to be more transparent, just take the org chart and draw a nice thick line down the middle and title the sides “old riverbed” and “opnet riverbed”.

I am still surprised to see how dumb some executives and, apparently, TB really are. Cost cutting measures simply means getting rid of waste - most of the (literal) weight is really in middle management (eg., the $h1T ton of directors, Sr. Directors). Many of these twits are NOT needle movers and block performers from “performing”. Clearly input is not taken from all sources but limited to a few, highly bias with limited in thought and intellect because the FAT is in that upper middle management zone.

To TB, PM, stop talking to the same id--ts because they are insane, making the same dumb comments, blaming the same group of people, and doing the same exact thing year over year over year. Step 1 is to dig your heads out of each other’s a$$e$ and kicking each other’s faces. Perhaps if you do this, you will actually think clearly and smell less like sh-- around the office. The answer is so damn simple!

It's over for Riverbed. Company technology is being sold and the staff all fired.

It's called business expense. You buy a hut. I... buy a car. You say, "Keep doing SeeFood until money is gone." Now, the money is gone. D--k... is up.

if you are not let go by 6:00PM EST/ 3:00 PM Pacific time TODAY, you are 100% safe.

PM will send out an email shortly after that.

In theory, if you haven't heard anything bad to you as of NOW, you are SAFE.

I was laid off today. Got a meeting request for a 1-on-1 with my manager. He introduced the HR person, 10 minutes later I'm looking for work. Had been with the company almost 12 years.

Probably no need to wait for several weeks, previous layoffs were done much quicker with 90% of the cuts complete in the first two days and everything is done in one week.
