Apparently the admins in NY are taking a huge hit. 21 and counting.

some people received calls yesterday informing of a meeting time at an off-site location today. Met with a Sr. mgr. and HR rep with a "your job eliminated due to reorg. not performance related. you're a great employee..." package offered 2wks/yr svc. Last day is Friday. field admin. no foresight of this coming.

"keeping calendar"

I am categorized as "admin" only in title only. Job is a whole lot more than keeping calendars. Problem is managers rely on me yet don't understand the full scope of what completing my job entails and cannot/could not do it themselves. An organizational fault occurs when manager cannot do &/or does not understand the job(s) of those they manage. This is the structure in FL. And good luck to the person who gets to backfill me - because I am darn good at my job, do the job of 5 ppl and have to train managers regularly. But the antiquated categorization of female workers as admin is one of the cultural shifts which needs to occur - give credit (and pay) where it's due and stop pidgeon-holing a wide group of workers as "admin." "admin" was a term to replace "secretary" to be more PC back in the '90s, yet it became a catch-all and a way to keep the ceiling low on pay and title for a whole work-pool. Welcome to the 2020's and come up with better job labels and recognition for the team of folks who keep this company afloat...get out of the good 'ol boys mentality and rethink the structure and use of the term 'admin.' I've not ever done any sort of secretarial work here despite being disparagingly called an "admin." And even if I were in a true admin role - THEY DO A LOT MORE THAN KEEPING CALENDARS. Google symbiosis and gestalt principles if you don't comprehend....

"The ability of an adult to keep a calendar and the willingness do do so are two very different things."

...and thats why the admins are getting culled. Because management thinks thats just as ridiculous as any one else does. The willingness will now be forced.

no but teaching a 35-43 year old adult how to manage their own calendar shouldnt be hard.. and then with limited travel aside from sales, what will you need all those admins for?

Hard to believe there were that many left after last year ... I’m guessing the B2+ community they support are being culled too. Let’s face it; whacking the non-banded is not going to get you to that ~$2B Target ...
