The issue with older folks is that they cost the company more with insurance, and they tend to have more health related issues which requires time off, costs the company more, etc.
By getting younger folks onboard, they get paid less, don't want insurance, and tend to leave very quickly.
Financially, it just makes more sense, even if it's cruel.
I'm in my late forties, and i can start to feel pieces of me breaking down.
I was saved from the mass layoffs last year, but i steer clear of hospitals if i can.
I agree with @XGSXzni-1mtv that this is the reality that we live in even if this is cruel, but I also think that people should stand up to this to a bigger extent. People are facing the same issues at other companies. I don’t buy the “it makes more financial sense” story. If we follow that logic, the most financial sense for the company is for us to work for free as slaves or whatever and last time I checked that was outlawed. This should be outlawed too.
