Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Take care of your employees and they'll take care of your business

Well yeah you are hired at will, but if you treat your employees like c-ap and make them feel disposeable their not likely to care much about their work. Like Richard Branson says "take care of your employees and they'll take care of your business". I dont know what BNY's motto is, but I'm sure people here could come up with a few.

A short but a very truthful post I found on the board. Reposted from @XGBp9kb-meu .

My all time fave is the kiss up, typically the bosses buddy, who sees all the emails flying back and forth about a client issue and does nothing...until....it's resolved then responds all to the email immediately before the resolution piping in with "how can I be of assistance, is there something I can do?".... with another email moments later "just saw this email and that the item was able to resolve, glad it all worked out".

BS! Some people are professional kiss ups while others do all the work.

The problem is Charlie has created an enviourment of fear where no one feels safe , employees cannot concentrate on their jobs .. everyone is trying to save his own @## , no team morale or team spirit. The managers are busy @#&&#$ up to their big bosses to save their jobs as they don't have anything substantial to show.. hardworking employees are being used as guinea pigs.. it's just sad on how they treat employees who have worked so hard for so many years for this company :(

Playing politics will only work for a short while. My manager is one who thrives in this environment. I hear her casually sneaking in comments to throw colleagues under the bus to control perception in the immediate term (even me as she sits behind me and thinks she is whispering quietly enough not to be heard on the phone). However, in time those manipulations will come to light.

Rise above, as hard as it may be and be authentic. At the end of the day, no matter what perception my manager has given of me to others to suit her personal agenda, and what they choose to subscribe to without doing their own diligence is disheartening, but not a reflection on my character. I leave it to whatever happens will happen and is outside of my control so long as I've worked based on merit and with integrity.

If you don’t invest in your employees you’ll be stuck with a bunch of schlubs that can’t innovate and you will end up losing big name clients

As far as the CEO is concerned it's more along the lines of take care of your shareholders and the BOD will take it you.
