All I can say is I wish the current CEO had been there when I was. At least he's got some sort of plan and idea for growth. PR was a financial engineer. Had no clue how to run a company and actually grow the thing. He convinced the board to runoff the founder so he could merge with Encore. That was stupid. I can count billions of reasons why he should never have run the company. The old Sr. VP of RE didn't help either, but the board got him out of the way as well.
I think CK could clean the place up if the market would give him a chance. Diversification of operations is good for a company and that's what Penn Virginia provides. EOR with PV.....maybe some day far in the future. But good cashflow from an area that receives a premium to NYMEX...great idea!!! There's a reason EOG, COP and many other larger companies are wanting to grow there. This acquisition could be a great source of cash in a couple years if they spun it off to someone bigger.
He's got the right idea, but unfortunately he inherited a bag of s**t from PR. Seems like he's trying to actually build a company.
