Word went out that people will get notice tomorrow about when last day will be. No surprise though, kinda knew it was coming. They had been hiring folks in Tampa for months. This just s---s! So many long-time employees will be unemployed after years of service and loyalty.

Do the layoffs of work at home associates affect just P&C and A&H or all products?
The reason work at home employees in the northeast face the prospect of layoffs is that their salaries are a lot higher than those who work in places like Freeport, IL. This is why they closed the Property and Casualty claims office in Dallas, TX. Remember it's all about the unit cost per claim. The salaries in the northeast are higher than other parts of the country where P&C has claim offices. By shifting jobs to lower cost areas, MetLife lowers the unit cost per claim. It's nothing more complicated than that. Unfortunately, MetLife is not growing their business right now, specifically in Auto and Home. The only way they can increase their "profit" margin is by expense reductions.
Great! I work at home in the Northeast...... that’s pretty far reaching though? Getting laid off just because ya work from home? No rhyme or reason?
@what does that mean – I think poster means that MetLife will be looking to layoff people that work from home in the North East next.
What does that mean, going at work from home?
Going after work from home next in the northeast.
We were told there will be severance, and we'll be paid for our accrued vacation/sick/personal days. But it sure would be nice if they would tell us when our ACTUAL last day is. We've been waiting for months now.
The down votes are probably because the info posted was bad news? That being said, MetLife is constantly being touted as the best place to work, I just wonder who they are polling for that information?
I assume they will be paid a bonus accrued of 2018 plus severance?
Which locations/departments?
Why the down votes?
The posts are good and so is the info, sad though it may be.
I feel bad for the employees at Met Alpharetta. As a former employee there I know there are some good workers there with ALOT of knowledge. That is not going to be an easy transition , work wise..alot of the processes are not well documented so sending all that to a brand new team at another site will be interesting.
Tulsa OK today
Alpharetta, GA Retirement Income Solutions. They are closing the site.
Word went out in which location?
Is this IT specific?
