Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Retention Bonus a sign you are soon to be laid off

Is retention bonus a sign that you were in the group to be laid off but kept back with some senior management help ? Which means immediately after the retention period is over, you will be kicked out? I got a retention bonus last year and the end is getting very close.

Anyone else who received retention bonus past year, and where they are today. Thoughts ?

Mikey must be on a automatically renewing yearly retention bonus as his skills are core to DXC's business.

I disagree... Just because you have a retention bonus that hasn't been paid does NOT mean you will get WFR'd. I am a manager and the reason why we give retentions is to ensure we hold on to you for longer.

It depends on the context. I have seen retention bonuses paid to people who are not intended to be kept long-term, but are critical for knowledge transfer to (insert low-cost place here.) At CSC this was the ONLY use I really saw.

Retention bonus has nothing to do with WFR. The WFR is done by a group of people specially recruited by DXC for this purpose, of course they discuss it with your current manager before putting your name in the WFR list. These people are not technical - their job is to reduce the number of people who have been working for long in DXC and thus they make Mikey happy. You are not safe even if you possess talent and skills that industry demands. One man who can save from getting laid off is your current manager. If he/she says that he/she needs you, it might help. But my suggestion is that start looking for job immediately outside DXC.

You have the right to dream, so dream on.... but daydreaming that you are getting "some sort of reward"!!! Get off the koolaid and get real.

When we see the posts from people with 20 yrs experience along with AWS, Azure, SAP, Hana certifications etc. and still getting WFRed... it is interesting to see people still thinking that a Retention Bonus, from a year ago, is going to still keep you with a job in DXC.

Retention bonuses are hard to get. It means someone wants to really keep you or doesn’t want to lose you. Either way sounds like you have important skills. If true get out. Many here don’t and are stuck.

For you, yes, you are definitely going to get laid off :-)

For me, it is a way that my manager can get me some sort of reward as all promotions and pay-rises keep getting rejected .....
