Thread regarding IBM layoffs

What value does more management bring to IBM?

If you removed 45.3% of management @ IBM today you have the exact same number of managers Microsoft has.

What value does that 45% more management bring to IBM?

~Sourced Google Analytics for the numbers information accurate Jan. 2019.

A short post by @XykQure-2lzv but the OP nailed it. A good question that we may never get the answer to.

Does any one knows for a fact if Bain is still actively working with IBM, ie are they still involved with the right-sizing?

Post-Bain, my management situation has gotten even worse. They used to not care what any of us did. After my recent checkpoint I was told I now have to get approval from 3 managers before I get put on a project, even if I’m personally requested for a project. 3 people!!! Clearly all 3 have nothing better to do than micromanage someone else’s time. Looking for waste in the org? I just found 3 FTEs worth without even looking!

They have been cleaning up (Bain)... any managers with no report should be very worried as they will at some point get let go.

IBM and the top heavy middle management structure is what Bain was supposed to clean up.

Where is Bain in all this? Hiding somewhere not doing their job.

Since IBM has (roughly) 2.5 the number of employees of Microsoft, you are saying Microsoft has more managers per employee?
