That is true, many of the techs were/are fast tracked into full on routes without being trained properly. However, there are 30+ year techs that are good enough to pretty much diagnose anything during the pre-call. They spend most of their routes cleaning up after all the warm body techs that were just thrown out to the wolves. Old timer techs get so frustrated they either retire, leave or start their own business.

The purpose of the A&E brand was so they could repair appliances and such from other companies like Lowe's and Home Depot. When you buy a dishwasher from Lowe's they didn't want a Sears van showing up to repair. They also do lawn tractors, gas grills and recreation eq and have technicians that only work on those items. Before I left most were being cross trained to work on other items due to the seasonality of many of those items.

"E" does stand for Electronics. They used to work on TV's but that's pretty much dissolved since TV's are throw away now. I guess you could say the electronics on treadmills would fill that hole.

I've been wondering, what does "A&E" stand for, anyway? A is probably Appliances, but what about E? Electronics isn't something they work on, is it?

Love Sears Home Services. It’s THE go-to place to call for service and repair. Too many other fly by night companies and techs out there.

Sears home services is better than most of the independent operators. The home warranty companies like the independents be cause they are cheaper, but then they pay more when Sears has to clean up the mess. Sears satsfies 95 percent of their customers. Some of the unsatisfied will never be satisfied, the othet small percentage have legitimate complaints. 3 percent of 10 million is 300k peopl who culd be unsatisfied. 9.7 million are happy every year. These number are backed up by positive feedback reviews.

Probably nothing right away but I bet a competitor will buy the home services brand and service contracts and then shut down the field operations. Then they'll hire back the unemployed techs for less money or turn them into contractors like Sears did when they bought A&E brand from Whirlpool and merged in maytag and whirlpool techs years ago (I was one of those techs who had to reapply for my same job with Sears). No company will pay to take over home services the way it is when our leased vans and junk parts and incompetent field leadership are worthless.

Who cares, you guys can't fix nothing anyways. That's why they're sending other companies out under the sears warranties to repair correctly cause you guys are crooks.
