Thread regarding Riverbed Technology Inc. layoffs

Bye Bye P O'F

So now that he's almost gone and we a new GM, how'd you think things are going to change?

Pushed out or jumped ship? Is there anyone left upstairs?

C'mon PM, we need you to mumble something here to cover the tracks.

PO AM are incompetent. No technical knowledge; didn’t know where to spend time, energy. In a shrinking company you have to take hard decisions and constantly cut useless projects down. DN took on too much and could not tame loud mouths and loud laughers. Fewer people are good. We can run team with 1 manager and ~6 people. Rest are slowing things down.

Whoever wrote this below "Quality and stability don't seem to be the problem anymore" is obviously in Engineering.

Are some comments being removed? Appears two are missing. I’m guessing censoring is ok here then?

Just noticed all the “products are stable” comments all have a +3 reactions :) guess the riverbed PM’s are trolling

The product came a long way compared a year ago and is stable, it's no longer the culprit.

if a product is unstable then why sell it? If anything, selling an unstable product will end up making things worse in the long run won’t it? I don’t know, perhaps that’s a bit too much common sense thinking

Quality and stability don't seem to be the problem anymore, SteelConnect is pretty stable now, far from perfect but we don't hear of deals going not going through due to quality or stability issues. Either sales are not doing their job or the PMs screwed up and directed engineer to build something with no market.

When I worked in SV I saw him there often in the mornings, meeting with the Thoma Bravo people in a conference room. It can't have been an easy job. I suppose one scapegoat is as good as another. It was hard to find any end game with a good outcome when I was there, given both the age of the old products, and the quality and stability of the new. Good luck to everybody still there, and to P as well, he was one of good ones.

PMs start off just fine. But when we keep hearing no, no, no, we are like “ok, just make it run with less memory”. Energy from different teams keeps feeding into each other.

Interesting. The SDP team was collapsed and then sacked from his business unit. Karma I guess.

Time for change. Don’t be in denial. PO had his opportunity to fix things over last 10 years. Time for newer ideas. I wish my friends the best.

Last Thursday, 1.10, probably pushed out for not making 18' goals and not generating traction for Steelconnect.
