Thread regarding Sears layoffs

What's going to happen tomorrow?

I know a lot has been said on different threads about 1/14, but I would like to see some additional opinions on what can we expect from tomorrow. Are we going to see some dramatic turnaround or is it going to be confirmed what we've been expecting all along?

Eddie wins, the slow liquidation continues, Eddie loses its over and all stores closed and liquidated by the summer.

I think that we win if we ever could forget this ever happened to us. Adios!

You want additional opinions? What is there left to be said?

It’s all conjecture based on whst people read on the internet, or gossip in the break room.

Tomorrow is not just an auction, it's a Reckoning.

"With the way the company has just gotten rid of FT associates in the past vice dropping the, to PT, I see most remaining ASMs let go."

That's probably for the best, since someone depending on a FT income wouldn't last long on a PT income. They'd have to get a second PT job elsewhere, or quit and get a FT job elsewhere.

We probably won’t hear anything tomorrow. The winner(s) are supposed to be announced on the 16th. Apparently only one of the Tiger/Great American/Hilco/Gordon Bros. liquidation bids is still in the mix, and even then it is up to Sears if they are allowed to participate. There are also reportedly several bids for parts of the company but not the whole thing. My prediction is that Eddie will win, and then in 18-24 months the whole thing will be gone, one way or another. If he does win, I also see major cuts to supervisory staff (ie. only SGM will be FT, more floor level supervisors will be created, but all of them will be PT. With the way the company has just gotten rid of FT associates in the past vice dropping the, to PT, I see most remaining ASMs let go. Zone Supervisors and Leads will probably be kept, simply because there isn’t anyone to replace them with.) Districts and all district level staff on the Sears side will probably go away. Can’t speak for Kmart, but with ~200 stores left under that banner, not much point in having 28(!) districts and 6 regions. Region and home office staff probably get cut too. Long story short, more layoffs, just not at store level. I think we’re past that, because there are tasks that must be done in the stores (selling) that are borderline impossible due to prior cuts.

Eddie will win and take over the new company. Sears won't survive as it once was. It will be faded away when it's all sold off in pieces. Kmart will go right away.
