Thread regarding Cenovus Energy layoffs

So sick of the condescending bullsh$t the CLT says

Me culture to we culture? Let’s see:

  • you make our company rank in the 10 worst companies to work for

  • you keep your chunky bonuses while cut bonuses for the working population

  • you sit there in your all male podium promoting 10 male VPs into the most significant positions in the company (don’t worry I didn’t forget about the token female promotion from one failed group to another)

  • you stuff us into matchboxes and tell us to s--- it up with your gorgeous executive floor with this plush room and furniture.

And YOU ask US to be more WE? Wake up duffers. I said US the whole time in this post. It is a WE culture. You just don’t like being called out on YOUR bullsh$t.

AlPo said “come see me” and I’ll give you a package. Talk about Lucy moving the football before poor Charlie Brown could kick it. I’m Charlie - I don’t like Lucy much

Buzz words of "Open Concept" and "Collaboration" are extremely flawed and short sighted concepts.

If mgmt were smart they would offer packages up for people who want to leave so they could go. Maybe some of the unhappy people would leave. Win win for everyone.

Drew was right at the townhall. There is this thin layer of me me me people at Cenovus. The employees refer to them as the CLT.

“Me” culture is bred and produced daily on the 26 floor - so it’s ironic that they stand up there under the bright lights and basically tell us not to be like them - while we live under the constant threat of more layoffs, cramped work spaces and toxic managers. Sorry, this all may have looked good on paper and I’m sure Bangs and communications thought they had a winner - it’s simply too little too late.

I agree with 1cae. Talk is cheap especially when clt actions prove otherwise. Come down from the ivory tower and show that you folks sacrifice alongside us.

I'm not against giving up perks or salary or whatever it takes to get thru tough times, but let's do it together. It is hard to gain our loyalty and devotion when the regular employee is put thru the grinder and the clt / mgmt gets slap on the hand.

Understanding that our situation as cve employees is still better than many others it is only the fairness between us and clt / Sr mgmt that irks me.

Real Rule #1

Abolish sh1tty leadership, whining will cease on its own

For me the “we” culture got weaker and weaker with each layoff. The company proved they didn’t give a sh1t about us all. Even the biggest pro company people were let go. I learnt the lesson that there is no we, there’s the company that will let you go in two seconds flat the minute you’re not needed. That’s not a we culture, that’s a screw you culture. So I am a me person now and not ashamed to say it. I am a me person because I want to feed my family and pay my bills etc. and right now this company lets me do that. So I do my job and if the company succeeds I can keep working a while longer. But I don’t give a sh1t about the company itself. There was no we culture during all those layoffs, sorry.

And about those 60VPs. Who do you think promoted them and made that happen. Hint they’re all around you Alex. Same people who got us in this mess.

In all seriousness, I don’t care about the cubes, the historical perks or any of that. I completely understand our industry and our company has changed. I get it. I am not dumb. But if you want to convince me that we are serious about “we” vs “me” get rid of the biggest “me” person in the company. I will give you a hint. They have an office on 26 and have never been anything but a “me first” person. It’s how that individual got to 26 in the first place.

At least Drew admitted to being a promoter of the me culture. Leadership knows their errors but are too arrogant or entitled to admit it and realize that employees aren't irrate about the cubes but the fact that no one actually listens. The staff 'engaged' in these decisions are hand picked.
