Thread regarding Cenovus Energy layoffs

So is this the future?

So is this the future? We build bigger and taller structures like The Bow and Brookfield, only to stuff professional and technical staff into smaller and smaller spaces. I don't understand how management continues to get fleeced and sold on this whole concept of stuffing your employees into chicken crates and selling it as collaborative space. It's pure and simple a fleece job to save money, and we all know it. What is collaborative about smelling and hearing your coworkers farts and stinky lunch? Cubicles were invented in the 60's and the irony is that they were designed to actually PREVENT open office concepts.

This is sad but true. Originally posted by @X0HrDnN-3ois

Unbelievable how poorly thought out the new spaces are at Brookfield! Itsy bitsy cubicles barely large enough to fit a full grown human being, with wide swaths of wasted space everywhere! Why not order larger cubicles that are properly scaled for the square footage of the floors??? Any individual of average intelligence armed with a tape measure and a floor plan schematic could have done a much better job of designing the layout, and ordering larger, properly scaled cubicles. I'm sure the clueless, clearly incompetent individual that signed off on these ridiculously tiny cubicles will get a HUGE bonus!

I think Bangs put more thought into her last haircut than she put into the size and quality of these itsy bitsy, carpet sided cubicles! They might be okay for your run of the mill telemarketing office, but not at all well suited for an energy company with such a wide array of business professionals, land people, engineers, geoscientists, technical staff and the list goes on! These cubicles are a complete joke!

I don't think someone with a high degree of education as a professional, expecting a reasonable amount of personal space, with some reasonable level of privacy, and decent office furniture is entitlement at all!!!

I'm not sure people are aware of this top ten award. Maybe it's not as important as you think it is. 400+ people isn't exactly a lot. Sorry.

Classic CVE mgmt response. Ignore the problem of your top ten award for worst place to work. 400+ reviews are not a few whiners telling you there’s a problem here.

What you don’t get is it’s the good people who will leave, not the bottom. That’s why you lost a bunch of engineers last year and your head of completions.

The entitlement in this post is strong. Be thankful you even have a job bud and if your new personal work environment s---s so much then go out, shop yourself around and find another employer. I would bet my house you won't find another job in Calgary doing what you are trained to do.
