I heard managers recently had to rate all of their subordinates to prepare the field for potential layoffs in the first quarter. Anybody knows more about this?

Each manger does the 9 box exercise for each of their employees each year.
Basically there's 3 boxes across and 3 boxes high and each employee name is put into one of the nine boxes based on performance and potential....
Ex: An employee with high growth potential and that is performing at a high rate will be placed in the box on the top right. A low performer with low potential will be on bottom left, average performer average potential will be placed in the middle box.
Basically the bottom left box employees are marked for termination...the company wants to keep the high performers and high potential employees....also low performers with high potential are often highly talked about regarding how they can be motivated to meet potential. It's a healthy exercise for any company
I just got an 8% raise. CST in Texas
My understanding is that there are no merit increases any more. TT said at a town hall meeting in LR that the only way to get an increase is to promote up or move into a position that will pay more. Good luck!
Merit increases get pushed back further and further every year. If there are merit increases they most likely wouldn't be seen until June .
It is also for merit increase as well, if they are planning on doing it. We do have evaluations each year that our managers give.
