I am what the new kids call an old lazy fuy who should retire (you know, the one they call for help all the time) and i turned them down for VSPP a year ago.

I am senior man by age and years of service and they haven't touched me. I have more time by 15 years than anyone else in the state.

Unless you plan to retire, I would not take it because getting laid off is more money and you can get employment.

Then you take the chance of getting laid off depending on your seniority. You have to understand that the company does NOT want construction. It’s too bad that Jeff Story can’t be completely honest with his intentions, quietly he’s doing away with the organization. This is one back stabbing cruel company, smiling and telling you great job and things are going well... while planning your funeral and preparing to bury you through a series of forced reductions. Keep watching Jeff tell you a bunch of BS stories, I’d like to know how many total employees are left management and occupational. Bet you’d be surprised...

We haven't had a cable/construction dept for at least 10 years. Got shut down and guys all laid off in about 2007-2008.

All contracted. Fiber crew held on till about 2010. We thought it was all contracted everywhere.

Ads on indeed in PA and NJ for I&R contractors for several different companies right now and if you read the job description it is for us. Funny thing is though, we have no job openings. Hmmm.

VSPP is not a declared Surplus, question I would have is what Job titles are now left that fall under construction.
