Thread regarding CenturyLink layoffs

Centurylink India

This is what happens when you allow H1B visas like CTL did ... they start an offshore subsidiary company in India ... and now you have the entire IT department being outsourced to India and the average wage is lower than working at a burger joint in the US. Centurylink is an example of company that sold its soul to the devil and now the remaining workers suffer and wonder why life s---s and you will never get a raise or a decent bonus again. Allowing companies to wholesale outsource to other countries means there isn't any reason to get a college education to work at places like Centurylink, they won't be hiring you. Sounds like more layoffs each day this month.

They are rebadging as contractors, outsourcing the work. Reps will still be doing the same jobs only working as a contractor under Info Sys instead of being under CenturyLink. They will lose pay and benefits IF they accept the position.

Re-badging CTL buildings to WHAT exactly? L3? We had heard about them going to all contractors as there are contracting companies advertising to fill CST positions that don't even exist. A couple of us called and pretended to be interested and we asked who and where the jobs were for and the answer was, we are getting a list of eligible applicants together for Centurylink because they are going to need contractors.

Level 3 has completely taken over. Most sales teams have been replaced by level3 sales teams, most simple orders are now keyed by contractor's in India, most offline work being done in india, however info sys does have some centers based in US. There is talk of rebadging some of the CTL customer svc centers-meaning the ctl employees will be offered jobs as contractors doing the same jobs they do now only less money, less benefits and pto or they can take a layoff. So if you aren't upper mgmt you will either take a job as a contractor or be unemployed. CenturyLink is getting rid of everyone that isn't essential.

Any tech in the field who deals with them feels the pain. I called in for a LEN change yesterday and Habib's broken English was so bad it took me 5 minutes to understand what he was telling me my new LEN was. I finally told him just read me every number one at a time and put it on paper and figured it out myself.

I have been called out in the middle of the night where i could barely understand the customer name and just went on site to figure out what was wrong.

These id--ts from Level 0 running the company should have to deal with these people to do their jobs.
