Thread regarding Sears layoffs

New Player

I’ve heard from two relieable sources that Carl Icahn is in the wings, waiting to swoop in and collect what’s left. Just waiting for Eddie, to get the boot, from the court. Keep your eyes and ears on the financal networks.

Carl is only interested in the bonds. Doesn’t look like he plans on saving the retail operations just picking the carcass for sc-aps

I actually went on the Kenmore factory tour...during my vacation in Wakanda. The only thing Kenmore in any appliance is the nameplate. I did really once go on a Whirlpool factory tour when I applied for a job while in college. I saw a lot of Kenmore.

@zyn

Get real. Almost everything Craftsman in a SEARS store is cheap stuff coming from low cost manufactuters.

More and more of the SBD Craftsman product coming out is actually made in the US by SBD. ACE Hardware stores and Lowes are rolling more and more Craftsman products all the time.

It's not 1950 anymore.....let it go. It's funny that you mention clearance. EVERYTHING at SEARS/Kmart is about to be on clearance, even the fixtutes, because it's getting ready to liquidate completely.

Lowes has all their craftsman on clearance which is bizarre tho it is junk compared to the Sears versions.

This is highly questionable. Would be nice if Carlos Slim and Wesfarmers could saver this company, but that's a pipe dream.

I guess Carl likes to be involved in companies that are close to bankruptcy like Chesapeake Energy and Sandridge Energy.

SBD owns the Craftsman name, trademark, and logo. Sears simply is allowed to label the stuff they're getting as Craftsman.

Read the term of service and disclaimers on www.craftsman.com

Makes it pretty obvious who legally owns Craftsman.

Also the thing to remember is that Kenmore and Diehard are also just names....they don't produce their own products. I think a lot of people are over valuing the Kenmore and Diehard brands.

Sears DOES NOT have the IP for Craftsman. They merely have the right to continue purchasing Craftsman branded products from the manufacturers of their choosing. New design and in house manufacturing are not happening.

Stanley Black and Decker owns the Craftsman IP. They can engineer their own products, design new categories, and for the most part they are manufacturing their own Craftsman products....many here in the US.

Lowes and ACE are now stocking more Craftsman products than SEARS/Kmart..... Lowes is without a doubt the new home of Craftsman.

Carl Icahn's name has been in the mix for awhile. Wouldn't be surprised if he were eyeing the Kenmore/Craftsman/Diehard stuff. He loves old dying brands that still have some value.
