Barbie is going to Hollywood! I certainly hope she comes back with a bag of money or we are all screwed. Even though the people that I talk to and the public generally are quite skeptical about the success of the Barby movie I try not to think about it with that much criticism. Although I highly doubt that this movie could produce that much cash for the salvation of Mattel, my hopes are that it can produce just enough to keep us afloat, and at the same time be a foundation for the company's transition towards the movie and entertainment industry. I agree we were late to the market, but it'6s worth a shot, otherwise we are screwed in any case.

Fail?...yes. But won’t it be fun trying? Just a happy little detour on our road to oblivion. 😁
This will fail. Obviously
I don't know what Mattel got out of the deal, but Max Steel grossed $3.8 million North America and $2.5 million in other countries for a worldwide total of $6.3 million, against a production budget of $5–10 million. Gross, not net.......
Good media drives stock prices, see how the price jumps after the movie and the BTS announcement
Mattel released a live action film based on it's popular Max Steel toy line but I don't think it did very well at the box office.
Yes, but good media can drive product sales. Isn't that why Mattel spends all that $$$ on licenses?
Like the OP, I'm really hoping this pushes things in the right direction.
I don't know if the film division is a savior for the company. People forget Hasbro has had a lot of failures and a few hits. Battleship, any GI Joe movie, Jem and the holograms. I don't know if the last few Transformer movies were good or made any money for the company.
Just saying I wouldn't count on this savings Mattel. They still have to make products that sell.
