Talked to one who thought that the Corp. might actually do the right thing! Um. Yeah!

1ojf- No, you took yourself for a ride. You did not pay attention, you were blind to what was happening and you refused to see the writing on the wall. You stuck your head in the sand and hoped and believed that it would all work out, even though everything around you showed other wise.
For the teenagers who worked for this company, I find no blame. They are just working to get a paycheck and to move on to better things and life. But for those who made a career out of Sears/Kmart and those who need this job to support their family, you and only you are to blame.
You could have gotten out when you saw the first closings. You could have gotten out when they did not give raises. You could have gotten out as the stores fell apart around you. You could have gotten out when they cut benefits. You could have gotten out after every failed program. You could have gotten out when they demanded more work for the same pay. You could have gotten out as they cut positions and leads to part time positions. You could have gotten out as they cut hours. You could have gotten out when they cut severance. You could have gotten out as vendors bailed. You could have gotten out as more stores closed. You could have gotten out as executives left Hoffman in droves. You could have gotten out when service and PA's fell apart. You could have gotten out when they filed BK. You could have gotten out.
When people work for a company it is their responsibility to understand who they are working for and what is going on.
If you go on an interview you should know as much about the company as the person who is interviewing you. That is just common sense and good business.
We all believed and drank the koolaid for years. Remained loyal and worked hard for low pay. We believed. Mr Lampert took us all for a ride only to benefit himself.
