Thread regarding CVS layoffs

Nay sayers are now believers!

So my store is now expected to run 25 hours a week with just one (1) employee in the FS. This was mentioned on this site over a month ago and today it came down in the hub. CVS doesn't care about the fs, only the pharmacy. They will continue to take from the fs so if you work fs you better start looking for a new job. Only pharmacy certified store managers will be kept.

Get over yourselves. CVS doesn't care about you. They do not care about any of us. High volume. Low volume. Doesnt matter. You are a number just like the rest of us. Uncle Larry wants more money. We are all replaceable. DLs don't care!!! No one does. They do not care if you are a Manager or a Pharmacist. We all can be replaced. Its about MONEY. The all mighty dollar. Yell. Scream as loud as you want but NO ONE AT CVS CORP CARES ABOUT YOU!!! No matter what anyone thinks.

Nothing has changed in our district accept out of 10 stores we have 5 brand new managers with no store manager experience! They are easier to brain f@@k! So no experience at DL level in FS and managers with no experience in FS. It should go well? We

This is not the place to express your opinion of yourself!!!!!!! We come here because we are concerned about our jobs, not to hear how great of a team player you msy be. I am sure your talents save the day once in a while, the rest of the time you just collect a check. Sales make a company not a clean back room or up to date plan o gram. Justify your worth somewhere else comparing 960 pallets to your 144 pallets of product sold, really?

I know some people would hate on my post and yes I am a very low volume store. I would be challenged to replicate what I do at a larger volume store. My hats off to you and nothing but respect. More than likely though I am the one cleaning up your store when you are complaining and can’t get your mind right. The ones that run my store are between 18 and 21 and they do a great job. That’s why I bail out the under performing no planogram doing big stores with SMITs on their staffs and they have all the hours in the world and self checkouts.

I have a lot friends in big stores that get 15 to 20 pallets per week. I only get 3. Yes only 3. But when we compare contribution A they are not much ahead, where they can easily take shots at me. Because their pharmacy is nothing to brag about for a pharmacy company. Instead I say how can I help.

My store’s profit comes from a very talented pharmacist.

I have volunteered to take over larger stores but CVS has been unwilling to pay appropriately. I took a very low offer based on my very small store. It is what it is. I do what I can and you would appreciate me being in your district.

My post was not for you big stores. You guys are awesome. I don’t know if you are the future of this company but your track record hopefully speaks for itself. If it is then you should have nothing to worry about in the future. But you are this site for a reason, you are at least concerned. I am on this site because I am concerned. I run a low volume store. No matter how “great” I am at the end of the day I run a low volume store. Yes I am probably digging my own grave because yes a bunch of college kids can run it. Just because you do more volume doesn’t mean that your Couponers are EXTREME. My post was for small stores and rookie managers.

In the past I have personally sold more than your entire store has by myself. In a commissioned sales environment. Where your income is determined by your work ethic and the accuracy of the information you are giving. I have driven formula one race cars. Box seats in more stadiums than you have fingers. Guess what? it’s gone. Amazon made the whole industry disappear in under a decade. FYI other industries close their doors around Christmas and it s---s. I hope you never have to go through a liquidation it s---s.

Personally I hate change but I understand. Again to all the bigs dogs out there you are awesome and I impressed that you hold it together. As I get older I am about less headaches. Whatever you are doing do it well.

I envy you if you make it through life without being knocked off your pedestal. I have and it is humbling. I do not wish it on anyone.

Lol what a loser. Low volume store losing 10 hours and nobody bats an eye hahaha. How stupid are you? You must enjoy ringing a cash register and being a stockboy all day. Be proud of how great of a "Manger" you are. Overpaid cashier/stockboy. As the customers laugh at you wearing a tie working the convenience store knowing their 15yr old kids could do your job! Lol

Wow I just read the biggest hor$e$$$$ from that last novel of a post. Your the kind of manager who runs the store well over hours and can talk a big game and say your staff is high performing when all you do is run wellabove your budget. There is a manager like you in many districts. You shake.your head at other stores because your lucky you kissed your DLs @$$ so don't shake your head at other stores because they follow the rules and run their stores at demand.

I understand how you can be in shock if you have had hours cut. Last year I dipped 15 hours below min and this year it will be 25.

Last year I was in a panic but this year I am just fine with it. My store is dialed in. Over the past year I had to shed the shock mentality that you get when you first take over a store. You know that natural turn over that happens because people fear change and assume that it will be worse so they leave and now you take over a store and you have to hire 3 people and you are having MSH meetings with your DL at the front counter because you are short staffed.

You have to leave that behind and have a serious evaluation of your talent. It must be diverse and flexible so the pieces fit together. I started stopping in when I was not scheduled and guess what I found. People on their darn phones. Sitting on stools. I got mad, here I was worried about them but they had no sense of urgency. The first person I needed to challenge was myself, I had to raise the expectations. I had to be honest truthful with myself when I asked if the people that I had working for me valued the job. There are help wanted signs all over. But I believe that I offer the best hourly environment in our little town. I can’t save them from themselves. We made additions by subtraction. People had to work a little harder but in return the jobs were more clearly defined and they have a better sense of accomplishment. I showed them what needed to be done, why it was important, the consequences of not doing it.

Our carts are half empty and we work them all every week. Our in stock percentage is the highest it has ever been. We are up to date on all planograms.

In order to have flexibility in scheduling I trained to be a store manager RX in 2016. This last year I have spent approximately 3 to 4 months away from my store helping others. If someone calls in sick or wants to take some time off I just stay back. My team appreciates that I do that so they can have the hours and I have never had to deny someone the time off that they wanted.

CFR 2.0 will take less time. There is talk of truck coming every other week. I am sure there will be some big changes to front store over this next year. Do your best believe that it can happen and find the right people to be on the team. Once I stopped thinking that I was smarter than CVS and tried to figure out how to get things done within the constraints I was able to see a way to make it better for the people I work with. Work with your DL show value on how you can help throughout the district while still advocating for you and your store’s needs. An adult or leader knows how to set boundaries.

I help out at a lot of stores and I shake my head on how they can let it get behind because it just snowballs and it is so much work to get your head above water. I empathize and my first year I put in 55 hours plus a week while I learned the job. I invested in myself so it would be easier after. I protect the investments of time that I have made in my store by not allowing low expectations.

I hope this posts gives you a little light and the end of the tunnel because it was not fun at the beginning of last year. I told my staff today that we were losing another 10 hours and nobody batted an eyelash.

I manage a 7.5 million dollar a year d's. I have 21 people. I was cut almost 100 hours a week. Say what you want. We already are short staffed before this. No lies here. Ive been with CVS 29 years. I've never seen it like this. I am rd certified. Doesnt seem to matter. CVS doesn't care about any of us.

Not one post is true on this place. If you are doing 1000 to 4000 a day why do you need a lot of help. No customers no hours needed! Why pay people to screw around all day ? If you do over 8000 a day you may need a cashier! Most stores have zero sense of urgency. People do not quit because the job is so damn easy.. If you really tell the truth SM have an extremely easy job at this company and know it. You manage 1 person wow! Try managing a 100 people a day and making that schedule and work assignments
