The lease is up next year.
Has anyone shopped the Union Square location lately?
Make your own conclusion.
Sorry, @Wz3GBOn-5mda, but check a certain superstore in Paramus New Jersey.
A few booksellers on full-time with benefits. If they are on file as part-time, they sure work a lot due to staffing. And they still have health benefits.
One recently had an operation that was paid for with United Health Care.
There are no full time positions in the store other than kids leads, head cashier, the dozen or so stores who kept their receiving mangers, and then the management team. Some stores still have cafe leads as well. Full time booksellers have not been a thing for many years now. I should know, i was hired as one and now work part time. You're providing completely false information. BN cut benefits for booksellers years ago.
There are still plenty of FULL TIMERS who are NOT leads and still there. Last time they laid off all LEADS except KIDS and some stores kept a few cashwrap leads depending on how much money those stores made. Why did they keep those full-timers with hours and benefits? It was the LEADS last time ... they can't afford all that Health insurance for those people.
So kids leads? Other than managers there arent full timers left at the stores. Where are you all getting february from? Seems much more likely they'll close a lot of stores. No staff to layoff.
Get ready for FEBRUARY full timers with benefits. They got rid of the best. Now it's time for the rest.
There will be no reliable information from the NY offices. They want you to believe everything is just fine so you will stay over the holidays . Then come February a good majority will be gone......remember NO severance. They will maybe keep enough till they do an inventory, but since Regis does that maybe NONE of you will be left and the stores will just close. Don't fool yourselves....the managers know what's going on. And they are also keeping you in the dark while they are free to pursue their own goals to save themselves.
The corporate decisions have s---ed since the introduction of Nook. Amazing how they always drive the best people out and they think anyone can do the same job!
Lots of managers splitting lately. Even the corporate troll that used to be here (telling us all to shut up) isn't here anymore.
The managers have had to deal with low staff for years. Add on top of that the loss of head cashiers (they have to count the tills now), loss of receiving managers, loss of veteran employees, loss of maintenance staff, constant screaming by the DM about the membership and emails, etc.. Why would they stick around?
Union Square might be closing down next.
It doesn't have the foot traffic it once had.
