Thread regarding Sears layoffs

RIP SYW Personal Shoppers

Commissions for Personal Shoppers are dead, and with that one of the things SYW swore made them special. Full statement below

"Sears Holdings has announced a series of actions to position the Company to establish a sustainable capital structure, continue streamlining its operating model and grow profitably for the long term. To facilitate these actions, the Company and certain of its subsidiaries have commenced voluntary Chapter 11 proceedings.

As part of the corporate restructuring the company has chosen to end the contracts of our 1099 Contractors for the Shop Your Way Personal Shopper Service. Please note that a check was mailed out for all commissions from 10/15/18 to 10/31/18 on November 22nd. A check(s) for all commissions from 11/1/18 to 12/6/18 will be mailed out to you.

A commission check for the unpaid commissions from August 1 until October 15th will also be processed and sent to you.

Thank you for your dedicated service and support.

The Shop Your Way Personal Shopper Team"

For sh--s and giggle I just reopened the Personal Shopper app - I was told my Shopper was no longer active, but was assigned a new one... who happens to be listed as a Sears MSA.

Do MSAs even exist anymore?

The Whispers in Washington are that Senator Sanders is having Congressional Staffers going full speed ahead on research into Sears' bad behavior over the last few months, so I wouldn't be surprised if deciding to do things like suddenly deciding to pay personal shoppers for bounced checks for August work are suddenly going out. It looks like he's gearing up for a 2020 run, and Lampert makes for an easy foil as a cartoon villain complete with sympathetic and abused blue collar workers and sob stories by the thousands.

Few if any of the 'personal shoppers' ever did any actual personal shopping (picking out products for people with more money than time who didn't want to do their own shopping). They just collected commissions on everything ever bought by their so-called clients, for doing very little or nothing. I was surprised this farce lasted as long as it did.
