Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Qualcomm set on taking down Intel

Just to be clear, I didn’t post this article to praise or promote the competition, but as a reminder that Intel needs to be aware that the competitors are watching our every move, and are set to take advantage of every mistake that we make. It’s going to be a big fight on the 5G market, but we are also facing threats in the markets that we traditionally dominated ( PC chips).

AMD, Qualcomm and the ARMy moving to 7nm and 5nm while intel keeps plugging 14, spectacular competitiveness

@1eoe - Except, maybe, AMD?

I agree that the Arm threat is not what it seems - the possibility definitely exists, but $/perf/installed-SW-base will be the big barrier for a long time. Plus, with AMD back in the fold, there is a true second source in the x86 world, which big companies like. WJS and AG always said the competition was good for the consumer, and that will be the case in the next several years with the Intel/AMD wars.

5G, on the other hand... Intel doesn't have a chance. Think of it the same as QCOM trying to get into the CPU space - their track record has been abysmal. The same applies to Intel trying to get into the modem space. Not gonna happen.

There is no way anyone can compete with CPU performance at least for next 5-10 years. CPU is our strength and it can dominate high end markets (PC, data center etc..) for next 10 years. May people felt they really miss Intel inside surface/tablet when Q launch windows on ARM platform. We are leaders in CPU and no one can come close to our CPU performance.

What marketing BS is that "the competitors are watching our every move, and are set to take advantage of every mistake that we make"

Why not just say that Intel s---s at making HW and it's pretty easy for competition to do better?
