sales matters less than covering the cost of goods sold. have you seen the liquidation sales? they're selling $1600 ranges for $160. there's zero intent to carry forward as a business. they talk a lot about EBITDA, but the ITDA means interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization, and there's a hell of a lot of interest on the borrowing that eddie's done on on the billion's he's borrowed, a lot of taxes that have gone unpaid, and god knows there's a lot of depreciation and amortization on the ancient buildings and equipment that are never updated because he refuses to invest in the stores. there's a lot of virtual ink that's been spilled how there will be virtually no inventory left in a couple of months because the all the good vendors are no longer supplying, and malls are dead anyway even if sears tries to hang out for some godforsaken reason. anyone can look good for a little while by cutting costs on a company that's producing a billion dollars in cash flow, but eventually, all that cash flow goes negative, and eddie killed that golden goose long ago
