Thread regarding Barnes & Noble Inc. layoffs

Let's face it, if B&N can't survive in NYC of all places, it can't survive anywhere

This is the city where people read on the subway and the bus as they went about their day, and people don't even do that anymore. If Manhattan yuppies aren't reading, who is?

The way things are going maybe B&N can apply for historical preservation status since the Strand bookstore doesn't want it.

There used to be roughly 18 stores in NYC 10 years ago.

Now there is only 8, and none in Queens or the Bronx.

five in Manhattan, 2 in Brooklyn, and one in Staten Island.
