If you think you may be laid off (or have been laid off), under Federal law, your employer is required to give you 60 days’ notice (and pay you for those 60 days)
The 60 days is in addition to any severance you may be entitled to. This is required under the Federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act
In most states, there is also a state agency that enforces a similar law – those agencies are listed below
If your employer does not give you the 60 days’ notice (and / or does not pay you for those 60 days), you may file a complaint with these state agencies. You may also sue your employer, but that won’t be necessary because once the Federal government or the State agency investigates, the employer will do what the law requires them to do
If these links don’t work, please type state name Warn Act in any search engine to identify the agency for your state
If you need a lawyer who specializes in the Warn Act, type Warn, your state, and lawyer in any search engine
Since WARN started as a Federal law, please review this information first, and then the read the info for your state below
