Save our Jobs, Respect our Families

Tens of thousands of our jobs at Sears and Kmart are at risk.

Sears is in bankruptcy while the company’s owners are walking away with millions of dollars and putting our livelihoods on the line.

As Sears and Kmart Employees, we call on owners and investors to:

Protect thousands of jobs, hundreds of stores and preserve Sears businesses.

Guarantee severance pay and create a hardship fund for thousands of laid off Sears and Kmart employees to help our families get back on our feet.

Honor our benefits, including pensions for thousands of retirees.

We are united and will make sure our voices are heard.

Join us. Sign our letter to Sears owners, investors and creditors.

Dear Sears owners, investors and creditors,

We are employees of Sears Holdings Inc. working at Sears and Kmart stores across the country.

We have invested years and in some cases decades of our lives serving Sears and Kmart customers.

We have watched Sears shrink from over 300,000 employees in more than 4,000 stores to 68,000 employees in over 600 stores.

As the Sears bankruptcy process unfolds, our livelihoods are at risk.

We do not know where the bankruptcy process will lead, but whatever happens, we believe that employees who have dedicated our lives to Sears and Kmart should not pay the price the decisions of companies that have sought to profit off this iconic American brand at our expense.

We ask that financial firms and creditors participating in Sears Holdings’ bankruptcy process commit to the following:

Protect thousands of jobs, hundreds of stores and preserve Sears businesses.

Guarantee severance pay and create a hardship fund for thousands of laid off Sears and Kmart employees to help our families get back on our feet.

Honor our benefits, including pensions for thousands of retirees.

We will be making this request to all Sears’ creditors and financial firms participating in Sears’ bankruptcy.

While we understand that Sears and Kmart must make changes to survive, we do not believe it is fair that financial firms stand to profit from Sears’ bankruptcy while employees like us are asked to sacrifice.

Please let us know whether your company will commit to these principles.

Sincerely,

Employees of Sears Holdings Inc.

You need to protest - the type that shut down a highway or airport - to make this stuff work. It needs to attract national attention. are you 5?

ESL is not entitled to rip apart the entrails of a legacy company, selling what's left for sc-ap, but here we are. Legacy company? It's a brand name and nothing else, that's all it has been since the '80s, it's not a legacy if no one wants to shop at Sears or K Mart anymore, it's a dead horse

This is stupid. Might as well write a letter stating "Dear Titanic, cruise-ship passengers have the right to stay dry. We demand that breakfast be served tomorrow morning, no matter how severe the boat is tilting. Protect hundreds of lives, keep our luggage dry and the hull intact!" The ship is sinking, dear. The only question now is what state you will be in when it disappears from under your feet.

Sears has been slowly dying for like 10+ years now...for anyone that didn't get out long ago, it's your own damn fault you didn't find something else in that timeframe. They owe you nothing more than your final paycheck.

May karma find him sooner, rather than later...

The Creditors are entitled to their money . The employees are entitled to have all legal funds owed the pension paid into the pension. They employees are not entitled for a job in a company that is failed and cannot survive going forward without paying landlords, suppliers etc. It is important for employees to be realistic and plan accordingly. The sooner you find another job the less worry you will have.
