Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

There is no spirit of giving at AIG. Some offices have parties, others don't. This company that I truly loved when I started is on a destructive path. BD goes to Bermuda in the same week as a big RIF. As you know, travel has been restricted in the past 5 years. I wish everyone a happy, holiday season but don't plan on retiring from AIG. Treat every day like it's your last one. There is no reward for hard work. Bust your butt and you still get Rif'd. One friend of mine in her 60's worked there 33 years. She received a call on 11/29 and was gone in 20 minutes. Her phone and computer were turned off an hour later.

The review process established in 2010 is a piece of work. You have to set your goals and meet them unless your manager sets them for you. I always thought the manager gave you a review and rating and pointed out your successes and failures. Then they set your annual increase accordingly. Not this company. Most employees loathe the process.

The season of giving at AIG is to all levels of Management and mostly senior. Employees don't even get a Happy Holiday. No Holiday parties, nothing. Nothing for the workers, only for Middle and Senior Management.

Communication has been sent to some offices that no Christmas parties are to take place even if employees bring in food etc. Reason being that it takes away from production. How sad is that.

What I'm reading are a lot of genuinely nice employees who just want to be treated fairly. A Christmas party isn't a lavish affair. It's a great time to reflect on the year, have a good time and interact with the boss. Maybe they don't want a Christmas party with people who won't be around for the next one?

Doing away with the holiday party is really sad. How can they justify all these seven figure hires (don’t forget Zaffino’s $15M “signing bonus”) and then axe holiday events to cut expenses. Just when you think things cannot get any worse, they top themselves. Unreal!

BD was quite clear about making firm as lean as Chubb. You should've known if you are aligned to him or not.

Well I agree with you there is no spirit of sharing management seems either oblivious or caught up in some other place at least where I’m from they are over taxing the few remaining folks with so many extra processes tasks positions that have been created by misuse abuse and plain old self serving methods & procedures nothing is for the enhancement or benefit for the average Jane or Joe @ AIG far to much in the way of ‘goal setting’ what have you done & far to little of we know what you have done and what each and every individual brings to the table it’s just a morale to be quite blunt but karma is real and it’s true what goes ‘round comes ‘round so that’s what I know all is greed @ AIG
