Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

Cut at the top first

When will we start cutting the people at the top ? those people who need to take some accountability for where this company is.

Too many are more interested in promoting themselves on social media (they know who they are) and hopping around the world looking after their cronies or self interest. For some, it looks like their job is to be constantly on Linked IN promoting themselves or their crony groups.

Too many are in positions where they are clearly out of their depth, but got there either because of their network or dare I say - HR diversity targets.

I look at some in very snr. positions where their CV, experience, qualifications would struggle to get them a similar job in another large organisation.

Others are just down right lazy and you rarely see them !

Time for change - but not at the layer where it is the people who are keeping this company going.

I sit in hope that I am one of those that can get a pay off and go.

Yeah haha those materials are re-purposed from previous presentations and they’ll add in a few buzz words to, you know, make it different.

Anyway, to answer your question, you can’t get fired for hiring McKinsey. They are running TR right now. The execs keep making the mistake of hiring them simply b/c they can’t get fired for McKinsey’s suggestions and have no idea how to run a company themselves. Remember, many execs have moved from F & R, Tax, and Legal.

LOL "So honored to be with XYZ team in ABC yesterday"

LinkedIn is a wasteland of saccharine humble brags

@WtsXKsI, completely agree.

The question I have is why the Board of Directors has left in place the same executives who have been in charge all this time and have achieved less than stellar results. I don't see any reductions in the executive layer. Same CEO. Same CFO. Two new duplicative executive jobs were created. How many Chief Operating Officers does a firm with 27,000 (today) employees need? Below that, same ops leaders. If you take a look at the business strategy in the town hall materials, it is no different that previous strategies - just reconstituted to describe the change from business units to customer groups. If it hasn't worked before, why would they think it would work now?

All this means is that any of us can be cut at any time if it boosts share price. It's every man / woman for himself/herself.

But it was previous management that got us here. The current team will fix the situation. At least, that's what I'm told...

Well said Hope! Somebody must to blame for the company having 3,200 more employees than it apparently needs.
