Thread regarding AIG (American Intl Group Inc.) layoffs

Unstable employer - foolish and naive to trust ppl

My position was eliminated in Q4 2018, after being reassured that I had "nothing to worry about" by my supervisor.

Don't trust any supervisors.

I find AIG to be a very unstable company. More layoffs coming. I was unfortunate to get termination at this time of the year as hiring is super slow during holidays. Foolish of me to not have considered interests earlier on.

Don't trust anyone reassuring you of your job safety.

I am thinking of contracting now so I can continue to pay my mortgage and healthcare bills of my loved ones.

Many managers don't know what is coming down. They have been RIF'd the same day as the people they supervise. There is still a lot more to come.

I was a manager and I had no idea layoffs were coming for my staff and myself. Suspect your manager may also be in the dark about the “plan”.. best of luck to you all..

Managers aren't driving this effort and often have zero real insight into future plans.

Most managers and supervisors have the same worries and questions about their job that you have about yours.

I’m so sorry this happened to you, especially around the holiday. This company is an unacceptable piece of c-ap! Everyone I know is either actively looking elsewhere or “waiting it out” for the package (since they’ve all been here 15-20 years). I don’t know you, but I’m sad for you and will keep you in my prayers. No one deserves to be treated the way that AIG treats their employees.

I also had an AIG manager assure me in the summer 2018 that my job was not in jeopardy and then he gave me notice late September. I will never work for this company again. This company is a revolving door of people coming in and out and there's absolutely no stability. Guarantee you this current CEO is going to be out by middle of 2019.
