Thread regarding CenturyLink layoffs

Please post factual information for all of us to see or possible rumors you are hearing

Trying to share all factual information on what’s happening in the different states and departments. What packages and or layoffs are happening. This will give everyone a heads up on what to expect. Understand everyone is upset with everything that has happened at Centurylink but I think this is not the place to air grievances. Let’s help all of us out and share what’s going on in the different states and what Dept it affecting. Good luck to everyone.

Please don’t post grievances that you have with the company. This is not the forum for that.

The union will not be voted out. It won't matter anyway. The obsolete technology and time will take care of the union and CTL. The complete lack of anything resembling a plan will doom consumer and small business markets. Inability to attract top tier employees because it's a bad place to work, will doom the rest. When you go over budget by installing your only modem with dual band wireless that is probably 3-5 years outdated, there isn't much hope of turning that business around.

Fact is most Managers from the direct all the way up have no idea of the people's skill sets that work for them, it what that person does now that make their numbers look better and push them as hard as you can till they happen, the person breaks under the pressure or they find an excuse to fire them.

I have had probably 25 Managers in the 20 years I have been here and not one has looked at my resume or asked what I can do or know how to do outside of the tasks at hand.

They expect HR to do it for them, well not HR anymore either a screening company that does parses of Resumes based on word matches.

There is so much knowledge wasted and experience untapped by bad Management.

But give them a yes man on everything and the sunshine face and your in even if you have no idea what your people do.

Looking forward to seeing "automated" pair bonded DSL installs roll out. The sooner the better! Somebody writing about automation has no clue how current broadband technologies work.

You assume everyone in a bargaining unit are union members. They are not, I can assure you. You also assume that because people might currently work in a bargained for unit at CTL that they don't have the skills you mentioned and others you did not. That is also wrong. Many talented people, both older, experienced and younger very talented employees are leaving on their own. Centurylink won't have to break a union. Their problem will be finding enough qualified people to keep working for them. It is not viewed as a great place to grow.

The fact that you don't enbrace automation, self healing as a positive shows your ignorance. Here is an idea learn how to automate pick up a powershell, python book and learn a new bag, stay relevant. Oh, you have many excuses why you won't you belong to the union.

"The few remaining "lazy craft techs" must have done something bad today. Stock down 5% so far. Hope that guy gets "more" from his ctl stock."

This is a corporate Automated response, remember everything is going to automation, nobody needs to think anymore. Everything will fix itself and repair itself and clean itself and install itself.

Yeah, good thing Centurylink/L3 got rid of the bloated executive leadership hierarchy and learned how to effectively pivot and execute a winning plan to take advantage of the "synergies" from the merger. No need for competitive technologies, investment in infrastructure or reducing management to fit the new lower headcount of personnel. Just chop that union! That should do it.

LOL...Yeah those lazy craft techs deserve to get fired. I'm sure those contractors will help your stock soar! You should really bulk up on that CTL stock. What a great and sustainable dividend. Maybe if they had executive leadership, new technology and a plan you might do better. You do know that consumer markets is a small part of the new company and revenue was down across all sectors, right?
