Seagate engineering at NRM and SHK has been so decimated through large and small layoffs alike, that this is the result:
SEAGATE WILL NEVER LAUNCH ANOTHER PRODUCT FROM MINNESOTA.
Goodbye HAMR, too bad I never got to know ya.

Remember when Shugart bought Imprimis and saved their business (his words.) Means nothing to anyone running this joint today. The rock solid work ethic and devotion to the mission is lost on running the show, sad.
HAMR doomed to fail. Seagate will be our of business.
One HDD product will launch eventually if the company can stay in business long enough. The experience loss has had a huge negative impact on schedules. That's for damn sure. Any cost saved by laying off a 15+ year veteran proven good performer will be 10x less than the resulting schedule slip costs. We're seeing that now. If HAMR doesn't work, do we even have any more products to launch, or do we transition into a commodity company?
Can not get the type of experience needed with a new grad. I spend my days training the newbie while trying to do my normal job. Was asked to (on paper) show a short schedule for a feature integration. Reality and (on paper) don’t jive but was pressed for the on paper schedule so it fits the overall schedule. Cue the laugh track.
yep...
