Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

The longest wait in history

“Intel was the first to use 14-nanometer technology at scale in 2013, according to Goldman Sachs. It won’t have 10-nanometer ready for prime time until the end of 2019 -- by far the longest wait in its history. TSMC has gone from 20-nanometer to 7-nanometer production at the same time.”

Till 14nm there was a compelling reason to manufacture in TMG, since than if you needed density, power and performance intel has been going nowhere. Moore’s Law has stopped at intel but the mantle has been siezed and carried by TSMC

Sad but true. Decided to repost this. OP by @P95FdVM-7eypi

Leadership matters, consumer premium space such as Apple Air and MacBook as well as MS Surface justify their high price base.on performance and battery life.

A nodal lead my AMD with superior design can’t be subsidized back.

Lose these flagship is inevitable without 10nm

Doesn't matter quite yet. Record quarters keep rolling in.

What's going on with Nokia's ReefShark chip set? Isn't it suppose to use 10nm technology?

But Nokia ex-executive claims that "Nokia's #ReefShark is now shipping in volume..." (as of early Nov'18)

Is this true??? Have they switched to using 14nm instead or have they started using a different vendor?

Got to some serious hyperscaling to make up for 6 years wait from 14nm....

10nm is no hyperscaling just a lot of hype

Hopefully the Intel execs can shut the hell up about Moore's Law. It's been dead for the last ten years yet they still lie about it.
