Am I getting this right: there will be no closings while the 500-something Sears stores are up for sale? But after that it's anybody's guess?

This list is by no means final. Even the determination between go-forward and Ch 7 liquidation isn't final by any stretch of the imagination.
THIS list will have no closings UNTIL the auction process concludes in Dec-Jan. Then any that didn't get bought will have to close, and some of the ones that did get bought will probably close too if the buyer just wanted the real estate.
Closings have been happening the whole time.
