I was laid off in March 2016 when stock prices were low. Stocks have dropped even lower this time around so there’s bound to be more layoffs.
Despite being at IBM for less than 2 years, having good performance, and also being under 30, I got laid off without warning. I came in to work as usual, then my manager scheduled a last-minute one-on-one, where I was read a script saying I was identified for lay-off.
Brace yourselves. It can happen to anyone without warning.

Wipro in India does it one better. Go to the entrance gate. They ask for your badge - take it - keep it and tell you to go home. Just like that. At least you had a conversation. Sorry for your loss but there is a better life out there.
To underscore your point, I was hired in March 2016 when stock prices were low. I am so sorry to hear that you went through this, but there truly is no rhyme or reason to the layoffs. Scary times.
