From past experience it is highly unlikely they will do a huge layoff before year’s end. Huge layoffs are usually either in the Q3 or Q1 of the fiscal year. Q3 so that they can make the financial look good for the fiscal year ending in June. Q1 if they need to tweak the financial for the new fiscal year. For the past number of years there have been small layoffs (i.e. a handful of people) on a regular basis. Just this month there were 3 IT Directors that got laid off. The company has been trying to avoid huge layoffs as much as possible due to negative press and have been doing these small layoffs for the past few years. Whichever the case, just be prepared and make the most of your time to your advantage.
Tend to agree with @WkU4JYG-1tsp on this.
