Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Intel is already working on a 10-core CPU?

According to a Taiwanese forum thread that claims to have information from an inside partner meeting, Intel may be developing a 10-core consumer-grade CPU in the Comet Lake-S family. The CPU would be built on the 14 nm process and may use a dual-ring bus design, implying that the CPU will split cores between two dies.

So far it’s just a rumor and the info is pretty slim. Does anyone have any info about this?

Either scale back or capacity doesnt meet demand due to low yield. 14nm fab has highest capacity than other nodes. Therefore switching isnt easy

This is old news. It's the successor to the 9900 K and will be released early next year. Google 9900k and you'll see tons of articles on this from many months ago.

LOL, even 14nm using MCM? Absolutely pathetic.

14nm 10 core anything is DOA. No one wants to build cooling solutions for that.

10core on 14nm for low margin consumer, excellent product when you can’t supply enough silicon, where o where is 10nm that would have doubled output of it ever comes 2022 maybe ?

There is no 10- core use case for the average consumer. The 10 core premium would be better spent on a graphics card.
