Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

It's Friday, it's five to five, it's CrackerJack!

...er no it's not, it's time for an invitation to leave the company as the next round of WFR hits everyone's inbox. Have a nice weekend, coz this smells like a biggie.

With all the contractors leaving at the end of Nov/Dec who's going to be doing all the work in January?

By converting workers to contractors, an expense becomes a write off, one that you don’t have to worry about severance when the work is done

In the USA severance is not mandatory, so that argument doesn't hold water.

India is in dire need of labor reform.

Dur to manipulative practices, lack of labor unions allowed in the IT sector and low salary payouts due to currency manipulation, there are adverse effects of people losing their jobs in developed countries.

New grads will work their butts off - what is the problem with that ? Ideally you work hard when you are young and eager to learn. So that is not a bad thing, actually it is a good thing. BTW - what is wrong with all the UK ranting ? - all you have is a good accent, which I can hear in BBC news ! Did you guys ever sign a new deal ? Mind the gap !

It’s all still going to Hell in a Handcart, meanwhile el Reg say ‘ In an earnings call CEO, president and chairman Mike Lawrie (one person taking on those three roles is generally considered poor corporate governance)’ casts nasturtiums even over the way the whole Sh1t show is legally lead! You couldn’t make this stuff up!

The use of contractor labour is something the investors chewed Mikey up about at investor day.

They are supposed to be using less contracted labour and apparently thats what they will do.

Instead you'll have employees on zero hours contracts - apparently there are IT staff who would work this form of modern slavery?

Who will do the work you ask ? I know it’s not me . I was WFR’d two months ago and I’m finally breathing fresh air . No more canary work in dark caves for me . Just open sky and sunlight from now on .

DXC is outsourcing our people to our vendors and Contracting them back to work projects they were already working as DXC employees. DXC is them also adding to the staff with additional contract talent from our vendors.

This can’t be a money saving option?

No new large publicized deals made? How funny. Call in the next round of Indians to cut costs. Get rid of that darn elusive middle management layer. They are really good at eluding layoff or firing. Go deep and long. Good ole boy network is alive and well at DXC. Eliminate the new business staff they are absolutely useless and price deals to high.

Don't worry... there are loads of modern apprentices ready to take over the reigns!

The background to the UK WFR's of course hasn't been made clear... the background is in fact that the UK had its first $1 billion revenue quarter in Q2.

Yes, its not failing, its delivering revenue when revenue is the thing that investors are demanding from DXC.

The source of this revelation? Mikey's own mouth during investors day.

So UK, you've more than done your bit for achieving revenue growth, how about you axe a load of people to encourage them to do more eh?

From what I've seen its bottom level management - the team managers on the ground. Given that many of them already have too many people to manage (by Mckinseyt definition) and across physical locations, I can't see how this can be any use whatsoever....

...Unless the troops themselves are going to get another kicking.

The wheels are coming off and the markets have cottoned on to Lawrie's lies. They can see DXC for the giant Ponzi scheme that it really is and I suspect this empty vessel is about to implode!

What a bl00dy shambles that lunatic has made of that company. I've been out for 2 years now and don't have to put up with all that c-ap anymore. No more stress, terrible sleep patterns and blood pressure issues anymore. If you can get out, GET OUT! It won't last for much longer anyway. Share price $57 or so now and on a downwards trend! Happy Holidays!

The cheap resources (aka Graduates) will be forced to work their butts off for a change. How else will Mikey earn a bonus? Just like the saying says "hire monkeys and pay peanuts" then the difference will end up in Mikey's back pocket.
