Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

Laid off

I was given notice that my job will not longer be available as of November 30, but that is b---s--- as it will now be given to someone much younger. Here is a story about Thomson reuters, when I was hired the manager offered me a certain amount of money, she then left for vacation and I had to deal with the director who had human resources change the amount on the acceptance letter reduced by $18000 and I was told that is all they could pay me as the policy of the company was a 20% increase when you change jobs. In my 7 years in the department I was asked to do several jobs, always agreed to do them without any complaining. I also worked 2 extra hours every day for over 6 years never asked for any time off or compensation, until one day I asked for 2 hours off due to an appointment and was told that I have to make up those hours. I worked for a manager who is referred by others as a simpleton, who takes credit for the work done by her staff and eventually stripped of all of her direct reports, a director who is a bully. This is the first department where you could get an engagement score in the low 70 and still keep your job, where D&I is a pipe dream, to be spoken about and not acted on, where some staff is treated like the children of the manager and is away for half the year, takes over 43 days vacation days and still have vacation remaining. You have become a joke and my hope is that Large and small law will figure that you are not what you preach.. BY THE WAY THIS SITE IS BLOCKED IF YOU USED YOUR TR COMPUTER TO ACCESS

The comment made by WeXJv1E-1yyl is just disgusting.

I think when this person is next to be laid off, he/she will not make the same comment and

that day is coming....What an a-hole.

Oh my your pay was dropped by 18,000 pleasssssse. That is completely laughable & you stayed. There is not a single word past the above statement that I would even dignify with an answer obviously

you are lying through your teeth. No wonder you were chosen I am sure they have a laundry list full of reasons to let you go. Good for you TR

Op will be a loser here or any where. Yes people will ride you if you act like a fxxxxxg donkey all day.

Make the most of the forced change. From tr point of view worth paying you to leave to get someone younger and better.

I was also hired by one manager, duped by recruiting’s promise of upward salary adjustment after one year (nope, quite the contrary) & suddenly switched to another manager who dumped responsibilities unrelated to my position on me. Thomson Reuters was by far the best place to learn the lesson “do not work for free.” HR was worthless. Stupid, confused or both. Run, Forest, run. Same con game over & over.

The thing is - the organisation has empowered and supported these a**hole line managers. It's a common tale across the company in different geographies. Its structure is weak and full of holes that managers exploit especially to isolate direct reports from LT, which in turn strengthens their own positions. And on and on this nasty, oppressive vicious cycle.

Why would you stay if you were treated like that? Go find another job. This isn’t the 60’s where company loyalty is rewarded.

I also worked for a manager / director who showed absolutely no interest in developing any of her team. Nobody got promoted-- except her. She was a narcissistic bully who ENJOYED putting her people down, belittling them every chance she got - from approving days off to where to put the punctuation. No! I/We deserve managers who EMPOWER us! Good riddance. Yes, I'm upset to be part of this layoff like others, but today I begin again, and that evil woman has no say whatsoever about my work, career. Goodbye!
