They are paying severance to those who are full time in management and full time regular employees. Part time never did get severance and will not get severance now.

Full time management positions will now get up to 10 weeks. One week for every year you have been with the company for a max of 10 weeks. Cut from 20 weeks. Which means if you have been with the company 11 years or more at a full time managment position you only get a max of 10 weeks.

Full time employees, not management, will get a max of 4 weeks for every year of service. Cut from 8 weeks previously.

Those who were on severance when the BK was filed are the ones who need to file a claim because their severance stopped at whatever week they were on at the time of the filing.

For those who lost any severance pay, please go to the prime clerk website, download the pdf, fill out the information and mail it in or email a scanned attachment to them. I used USPS registered mail with proof of delivery. I am not suggesting you will receive anything at all, but it will only take an hour of your time so it's worth a shot. The prime clerk agent told me they don't have any time table when these claims will be processed. They also told me I had a legitimate claim for unpaid severance, they accepted it and now I am on the very long list of creditors. Don't let them get away with this, fill out the claim and send it in.

I was an associate cut from Hoffman in late September. On 10/19 I got an email saying severance is gone. The letter came from the current HR chief Rob Weber. Letter said “I am writing to inform you that, as a result of this filing, the Company is required to discontinue all severance payments and associated benefits to former associates“

HE employees laid off after Oct 15 are still receiving severance so Sears doesn't have to announce the layoffs 60 days in advance.
