For many Enron employees their only option for retirement was in Enron stock and they could not sell their stock near the end, even though management could. ESPP at WFT is an option and voluntary. Not really even close to the same thing as WFT now. I should know, I was burnt by Enron and worked for WFT.
The minute espp was loaded up as the background to the login screen, it reeked of Enron.
