gorter is hosting a webex all hands for legal. not sure if it's just mps or what so that's a thing that we're all dreading after rochester. invite came across around late friday morning

"last minute" all hands the monday before thanksgiving in this climate? even if its good news everyone gets to spend the weekend in uncertainty. and that's if you are working monday

given the current climate at legal, it was the least reassuring all hands gorter could have had. no answers, no actual assurances, and an embarrassing lack of self-awareness as he asked us all to be accepting of some ambiguity. he actually used that word.

and no mention of grahms org. maybe bruce can assure he will not be laying anyone off, but that doesnt mean anything to those who have heard nothing from graham.

feels like cya from leadership. people are talking and they want to try to stamp that down. you can tell by how gorter tried to handwave the question about why reuters isnt reporting on these layoffs and closures. they're doing something they dont want getting out to the buisness press.

If this is true, I don't see why he made the point around apologising for the lack of clear communication thus far. He's given the impression the reductions are over for 2018, knowing there are actually more coming this year - that's not going to instil much trust (if there's any remaining) going forwards.

Sorry for being off-topic: Firings became terminations which became layoffs. Now we have “job actions.” Who came up with that term?

The challenge for the legal bu is that they’ve shuffled the deck in such a way that the same people are empowered with decision making. For example they reappointed a head of sales who underperformed for years into another executive position in charge of customer service. Same with many of the segment appointments throughout all three “new” bu’s.

Piotr is hosting one for corporates on Tuesday. I’m not sure they really mean anything other than just to send everyone into the holiday weekend even more annoyed because we have to listen to management encourage everyone to focus on closing Q4 strong.
